Andrew is a founder of one of Australia's most successful technology companies, Hitwise (www.hitwise.com), which was sold to Experian (LSE:EXPN) in April 2007 for $US240 million. Hitwise has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, London, New York, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Singapore, and employs some 170 people worldwide. Hitwise has been ranked one of the top 10 Fastest Growing Technology Companies in the Asia Pacific region for the past 3 years by Deloitte, and has been the recipient of many awards including the Telstra AMP Small Business Award in 2004.
Andrew is also a founder of Oxia (www.oxia.com). Oxia is a world leader in personal bottled oxygen, manufacturing in Taiwan, and selling canisters in the US and Canada through high-end boutique hotel chains such as Starwood's "W" Hotels, Westin Hotels, and the Four Seasons Hotel group.
Andrew also has strong wholesale experience as a founder and Director of Smack Undies (www.buysmack.com), a US company based in Los Angeles which manufactures underwear in China and distributes globally through large retail chains such as Urban Outfitters in the United States, TopShop in the United Kingdom and Sportsgirl in Australia.
Andrew is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Max Super (www.maxsuper.com.au), a company he founded with his brother David, a superannuation fund that provides an easy online super solution to 18 to 40 year old Australians. Max was sold to Orchard Funds Management, which manages over $3.5 billion, in April 2007.
Karl De Abrew is the founder and former CEO of Nitro PDF Software. Since starting Nitro PDF Software in 1997 he led the company to many significant achievements, including the successful launch of Nitro PDF Professional (the first true alternative to Adobe® Acrobat®), ARTS PDF (one of the world's leading PDF software developers), and Planet PDF (the most popular website for the PDF community). Karl is a seasoned speaker, having been an expert panelist, moderator and track chair at conferences and seminars across the planet; as well as being an industry commentator and columnist writing for a variety of publications including Adobe System's website and Planet PDF.
Karl is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Debenu, a company he founded in July 2007. Its product Benubird is an easy-to-use personal document management system that allows you to collect, organize and archive documents. Once archived, documents can easily be retrieved using a special combination of searching, tagging and browsing.
Sam joined the Nitro PDF Software board in 2003 as an executive director when the Company retained the marketing and interactive media consulting firm founded by Sam, Aliqua, to supply marketing and creative staff to Nitro PDF Software. The operations of Aliqua (formerly Web Logic Interactive), where Sam had been managing director since its founding in 1998, were merged with Nitro PDF Software in 2004. Sam serves on the board of the Melbourne Community Foundation, Australia's first and largest community foundation, with over $30 million under management and distributes more than $1.5 million/year. Sam is also on the advisory board of Brocon Ltd, a Cambodian property acquisition and development company. Sam is currently completing a Bachelor of Business at RMIT University and has studied capital markets at Politecnico di Milano, Italy.
Richard Crocker has been involved with PDF technology since 1996 and an executive director of Nitro PDF Software since 1997. He has been in the midst of most major Nitro PDF Software initiatives since 1997 including the launch and development of Planet PDF, the launch and expansion of PDF Store, and the expansion of Nitro PDF Software's commercial software product division (including ARTS PDF and Nitro PDF). Today Richard focuses his energies on market analysis, product development, and company direction, and is an occasional contributor to the PDF Blog. Richard holds a Bachelor of Technology from Swinburne University and is currently completing a Masters in Writing and Literature.
Commencing work in 1993 in London as a trader in the treasury department of Bankers Trust (now part of Deutsche Bank AG) Richard subsequently moved to Milan to manage the funding requirements for the Italian office. Upon return to his native Melbourne, he continued to work in the investment banking industry providing Australian investors with wealth management advice for the Kerry Packer controlled Challenger-Group until he left to join Nitro PDF Software in an executive director and chief financial officer capacity in 1998. Richard holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.
